Kitchen Coordinator
Are you handy in the kitchen? Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois (RMHC-EIWI) is seeking a full-time Kitchen Coordinator to join our team in supporting the families at the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City. This role oversees all things related to our newly remodeled and expanded kitchen to ensure families have what they need; volunteer groups feel welcomed, and food safety and licensure requirements are met.
This position is 12pm-8pm, Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations
- Manage commercial kitchen licensure requirements
- Coordinate kitchen equipment cleaning schedule and operation of commercial equipment
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure safe post-meal packaging
- Manage stocking of guest family food pantry
- Order groceries and supplies
- Manage food inventory
- Greet, support, and monitor volunteer meal groups
- Receive, set up, and monitor catered meals
- Manage guest refrigerators including cleaning procedures
- Ensure kitchen area is clean and in good order
- Coordinate holiday/special occasion meals
- Supervise and support kitchen volunteers
- Prepare meals in the absence of volunteer support
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist with special events
- Perform other duties related to RMHC-EIWI as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of high school diploma required
- Some college preferred
- Restaurant management or food service management experience is preferred
- ServSafe certification required within 6 weeks of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet frequent deadlines and be self-directed.
- Able to successfully complete projects assigned with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to walk, sit, use hands, climb steps and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license required.
