JOB DESCRIPTION

KITCHEN/DINING ROOM ASSISTANT - PART TIME MON-FRIDAY 8AM - 12

Reports to: Chef/Manager

Main Responsibilities:

  • To promote the health, well being and safety of the residents.
  • To maintain the privacy and dignity of the residents.
  • To work in co-operation with the chef.
  • To be aware of all COSHH information for products you use and where they are kept
  • To ensure that Safe Management of Foods procedures are followed.
  • To maintain awareness of individual dietary requirements/allergies
  • To attend mandatory training
  • To have a sound awareness of the Home’s philosophy, company policies and procedures
  • To maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness at all times
  • To report any concerns to the senior person on duty immediately.

Roles and Duties

  • To ensure the residents receive the food of their choice of food and drinks
  • To deliver trays to residents who are having breakfast/tea in their rooms ensuring good presentation
  • To maintain a well presented dining room ensuring the tables are laid with all required items including specially adapted cutlery (in partnership with the care team)
  • To follow correct procedure with regard to hazardous substances.
  • To clear away the breakfast/tea dishes and load in the dishwasher
  • To prepare the hot drinks trolley and take round to the residents at 10am
  • To record menu choices for each resident and inform the chef
  • To prepare jugs of orange squash and fresh water and take to the lounge
  • To refresh water jugs and glasses in residents room (mornings)
  • To leave the dining room tables and mats clean
  • To prepare a selection of sandwiches for tea
  • Assisting with tea service if requested to do so (evening kitchen assistant)
  • Clear the dining room and trays from the rooms
  • Load the dishwasher
  • Remove the table cloths and napkins and replace with clean (evening or as required)
  • Complete kitchen close down sheet (evenings)
  • Take soiled table linen to the laundry room
  • Offer hot/cold drinks to visitors
  • Any other reasonable task requested by the Chef or Andrina

Qualifications

Food Safety Level 2 preferred
No formal qualifications are required as full training will be given.

Experience
Experience with older persons preferred but not essential.
