Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Perth House Assessment Hub, off Perth Street, Derby.
Social care has been prominent in the media recently and has highlighted the amazing role that those in the care field play in our community.
As a result of the previous postholder progressing in their career, an exciting opportunity has arisen for
a part time Kitchen Assistant to join our award- winning Home First team based at our Assessment Hub Perth House, Derby.
Working closely with our NHS colleagues, we are responsive to the needs of our customers by supporting the prevention of hospital admission and facilitating hospital discharge by providing short-term assessment support to people in their own homes and within our integrated assessment beds at Perth House.
We look after some of the most vulnerable and frail people in our community who have been discharged from hospital, or for those who experience a short period of ill health, enabling them to stay or after a period of assessment return home rather than be in a hospital bed. We assess customer’s needs and work with them to be as independent as possible.
This role is working in our Assessment Hub at Perth House taking care of customers nutritional and specialist dietary needs. We are looking for someone who has previous experience in the kitchen environment and possess a basic food hygiene certificate. You will work as part of a small team and be supervised by the Cook.

  • A 'can do attitude' and open mind.
  • Caring nature
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Willingness to learn

  • The benefits of working for a local authority
If you are interested in joining our team, please apply using the application form and telling us all about your experience and how you can meet our job specification. We look forward to hearing from you.

Before you complete your application form please read our guidance on filling in your application form.
Quick Tip! Remember to align your personal statement to the Essential Criteria in the Person Specification
