Kitchen assistant vacancy at Virginia Lodge Care Home, LONGTOWN.
Approx 21 - 29 hours per week, working a mixture of morning shifts, (7am - 2pm), and days (7am - 6pm).
In the morning the Kitchen Assistant will be expected to work alone, preparing and serving breakfasts (hot and cold). After breakfast the candidate would be working alongside the cook to assist in preparing and serving a hot dinner for the residents, washing pots, cleaning the kitchen, record keeping.
From 2pm the Kitchen Assistant would be expected to work alone, preparing light meals, such as jacket potatoes, omelettes etc, or assembling from ingredients already prepared by the cooks, i.e making sandwiches, plating up cakes, heating soup etc. for our evening meal. Later serving the food to some of the residents, whilst ensuring they get the food they want, and have a good mealtime experience. Removing finished plates from them, offering them desserts etc.
Cleaning the kitchen as well as any plates / equipment used throughout the afternoon, and ensuring the kitchen is 'shut down' come 6pm.
The candidate must work in line with food safety standards.
Alternate weekends in/off. Flexibility needed for others' holiday leave cover.
