Wing’s Diner – Kitchen Assistant
Job Type: 25/35 hours per week (£10ph)
Location: Central Bristol
About us and the role:
Wing’s Diner began life as a pop up event and has now been serving up Bristol’s best fried chicken from the kitchen at Small Bar since January 2018. We pride ourselves on serving up delicious, crispy yet juicy butter-milk fried chicken with our signature Asian twist, in a variety of ways ranging from wings and burgers to loaded fries and rice bowls.
In 2021 we launched our online ‘Cluck and Collect’ service through our website, and also partnered with UberEats to bring Wing’s Diner directly to the customer’s door via their established delivery network. In March 2022 we began to expand our operation, and have launched a dedicated kitchen for the purpose of dealing with our delivery platform, as a result are looking to bolster our team numbers.
We are looking for someone with a love for all aspects of food and who ideally has an interest in pursuing that passion by joining our hardworking kitchen crew. The successful candidate will initially join on a part-time basis, however there will be scope to progress the role to around 30/35 hours per week as the business develops, should you wish.
Requirements:
There are no set requirements, but it will help if you have:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or higher
- Paid or unpaid experience of working in a kitchen
- A keen passion for food and cooking
- GCSEs at grades C or above in English and Maths
- A good level of physical fitness, as you could be on your feet all day
- An interesting and eclectic taste in music

Duties:
You will be part of a team that helps to keep the kitchen running smoothly by making sure everything is clean, tidy, safe and hygienic.
Your day-to-day duties could include:
- Preparing food items, raw chicken, salads, sauces etc.
- Plating food orders
- Running food to tables/clearing tables
- Washing pots, pans, baskets and cutlery
- Making sure kitchen equipment is cleaned and correctly stored
- Washing and disinfecting kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls
- Removing waste and recycling from the kitchen
- Unloading deliveries and organising the stockroom
- Dealing with ad-hoc customer/delivery partner queries
Working hours, patterns and environment:
You will be required to work a variety of shifts ranging from opens, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Rotas are published at least two weeks in advance, enabling you to plan your time off around your shifts.
This role will primarily be based within Small Bar, however there may be occasions where you are required to work at our delivery kitchen, also located in Central Bristol.
If you have previously worked in a kitchen then you will be aware that the working environment will quite often be hot, busy and noisy. You may not be suited to this work if you have certain health/skin conditions.
We will provide staff with the necessary PPE required for the role and will issue you with your own staff t-shirt.
We enjoy a very good working relationship with Small Bar, and as a result they allow us to enjoy discounted beers. We provide our staff with a free meal on shift, as well as a discount on food when not working.

Salary: £10.00-£12.00 per hour
