Kitchen Assistant working alongside either the Executive Head Chef or Second Chef.
This role would entail 2-3 full day shifts a week. Hours are sociable as we are a daytime cafe (open 9am - 4.30pm). Weekend working will be required as we are open seven days a week throughout the year.
You will play a valued role in the preparation & presentation of the food offer at Caban café. Working with the Executive Head Chef you will help the kitchen to run in the most efficient and effective manner, delivering the consistently high standards expected by our customers
Some experience is preferred but full training will be given. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, energetic and hard working. You should have a passion for working with food and a desire to achieve high standards of efficiency and consistently excellent quality. Current Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate preferred.
Cafe Caban is a light airy building set in beautiful grounds with mature trees, allotments and a kitchen garden with poly tunnel. We have seating for around 60 indoors, supplemented by a large decking area for sunny days and sheltered huts for alfresco dining in all weathers.
Caban Cyf's mission, as a social enterprise, is to provide a hub for the local community where people can meet and we can provide them with high quality food and drinks. Our focus is on creating a variety of tasty interesting food with a focus on seasonality using fresh produced sourced locally wherever possible.
We are a small, friendly staff team, enthusiastic about our work but equally so about the time we have to spend in beautiful North Wales enjoying the various activities it has to offer.
Job Purpose
- To assist with the consistent delivery of our high quality food service
- To maintain the clear standards of working practice
- To adhere to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and food hygiene including:
- Implementation of:
- food hygiene
- food safety
- Health and Safety and other regulations
- Care of kitchen equipment
- Maintain food production records
- Operating within our stock control process to minimise wastage
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation of the daily food offer as directed by the Head Chef
- Assist with checking deliveries and their correct storage
- Maintain high levels of personal hygiene, wear safe work clothing and maintain food production records
- Be aware of the emergency evacuation procedures and assist other staff and the public in an evacuation
- Monitor and limit wastage
General Duties
- Support the aims and objectives of the Caban both internally and externally
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required
- Provide cover during holiday and sickness absences
- Undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Executive Head Chef and the Executive Director
