Key Account Manager
We are looking for a Key Account Manager to join our business covering the Grocery, High Street & Discounters channel. You will manage a variety of key customers including Tesco, Morrisons + more, whilst identifying and developing new business opportunities with the drive to grow accounts, maximising the growth of sales and margin.
The perfect role to showcase your account management and business development skills, whilst working closely with internal and external stakeholders to inspire, motivate to achieve outstanding performance.

The Role
This is a permanent position. Reporting to the Sales Manager for Grocery, High Street & Discounters, you will develop customer relationships and 3-year customer strategy plan in line with AMES 2024 strategic goals to become the partner of choice. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering FMCG branded & non branded products into National Retailers with a particular focus on range mapping, whitespace conversion and new product development.
A typical day in your role will involve:
- Working with the Sales Manager and Key Account Managers to create customer project timelines and make sure key deadlines are met
- To keep a vision of what is important, instead of concentrating on the urgent, working on achieving those goals, realising the urgent should never take away the attention spent on the important
- Focus on delivering excellent levels of service through each customer, ensuring the communication needs for each account is prioritised
- Manage customer forecasts to ensure accuracy through the Production Planning Team and budget forecasting
- Range Mapping through all relevant categories, highlighting whitespace and NPD opportunities
- Understanding and communicating the customer requirements through internal stakeholders to ensure the correct business response
- Liaise with Buyers, Assistant Buyers & Merchandisers to understand their requirements
- Market research for competitor analysis and benchmarking
- Working with the Product Team to better understand product range
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a background in working within the Garden Industry or experience dealing with accounts within the channel such as Morrisons, Tesco & Homebargains
- Is a team player and works well under pressure, excellent interpersonal skills, IT skills and presentation skills
- Is resilient to enable working to tight deadlines
- Problem solves with creativity
- Flexibility to working hours and ability to travel
- Has a customer focused ethos

Salary: £30,000.00-£39,000.00 per year
