Working with the kennels team to ensure that on a day-to-day basis the kennels are kept to a high standard and to maintain the level of cleanliness and efficiency.
Hourly rate of pay set to increase from the current level on 1st April 2023.
Principle Accountabilities
To keep the kennel's cleanliness and tidiness to a high standard by cleaning and poo picking twice a day and deep cleaning each kennel when dogs leave.
Being responsible for the upkeep and safety of the dogs whilst boarding at the kennels.
To communicate all records concerning the animals within your team.
To report any maintenance requirements internally.
To deliver a consistent and positive experience to both animals and their owners.
Working within legal requirements and being fully aware of our Health & Safety policy and procedures, reporting any issues when needed.
To take part in a daily debrief with the kennels supervisor to communicate any news concerning the dogs.
To liaise with the company directors about the welfare and progress of the German Shepherd dogs on site.
To bath boarding dogs before they leave the kennels.
To care for and socialise with new litters of puppies when they are born.
To occasionally take dogs to the vets when needed and provide a full debrief on return.
To exercise all dogs regularly on and off site.
To administer medicines to dogs when required.
To feed all dogs and communicate any issues with feeding to the supervisor.
To ensure water bowls are always full.
To wash bedding daily or when required.
To accompany German Shepherds to the exercise yard when customers come to view the dogs.
To occasionally help with the breeding and mating process when required.
To occasionally accompany the directors and German Shepherds to shows when required to care for the dogs.
To undertake a final check of the site when required to do so to secure all dogs and ensure safety and wellbeing for the night.
Nature and Scope
We are seeking full time pro-active, organised and self-motivated team members whose heart must be in dogs as they are at the forefront of everything we do.
An approachable persona and excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as customer service and client facing duties are a crucial part of day-to-day activity.
Being able to work effectively within a small, close-knit team is key for this role and occasionally working outside the perimeters of your job description will also be expected. Hours to include weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays. Shifts are 8 hours each and you will receive the rota approximately a month in advance from the supervisor.
