In addition to a competitive salary, a self-contained one bedroom cottage on site could be made available subject to agreement.

- A full driving licence and your own transport is essential due to our rural location.
Hours
08:00 to 17.00
5 days a week, the shift pattern includes weekend work.
An agreed number of over-nights per month undertaking on-site kennels and housesitting duties will be required.
Responsibilities
We are a professional busy working Kennels & Cattery looking for a conscientious and self motivated individual to be part of our team of kennel staff.
We’d like you to have experience of handling a wide variety of breeds and be committed & passionate about caring for and working with all of our dogs and cats, some may be challenging.
The role includes cleaning kennels, walking and feeding dogs, grooming, socialisation and various other kennel associated tasks. After an initial probationary period, the role will evolve to include more managerial duties - ensuring that quality control, exceptional care & attention for our animals and our customers are of the highest priority are consistently maintained.
On a day-to-day basis the responsibilities will include -
- Managing the opening of the kennels including morning exercise and kennel cleaning out. You will be required to undertake these activities with the staff. Managing all associated activities in the Cattery.
- Organising and feeding in the morning including accurate distribution of any medications and special dietary requirements.
- Oversight and quality control of kennel cleaning, cleaning the site, utility rooms and staff facilities. Again, the Manager will be required to undertake these personally depending on staff and dog numbers.
- Oversight and delivery of staff, animal and customer health, safety and welfare.
- Management of afternoon exercise, kennel cleaning, grooming, feeding and putting the dogs and cats to bed.
- Throughout the day, the Kennel Manager may be required to answer incoming phone calls or deal with customers so you must be confident in liaising with our customers and undertaking booking in & booking out administration, detailing and managing any animal medication and special dietary requirements.
- Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Ensuring adequate cover every day is paramount. This is a business where our clients’ dogs must be cared for whatever the weather, 365 days a year including Christmas Day. Making sure that our customers and their pets get the very best quality experience is our number one priority.
There are no particular computer skills required for this job, however it is essential that you have a keen eye for detail, dedication to the role, be a stickler for cleanliness and accuracy with paperwork. You must have the professional manner and flexibility to support the owner and the business.
The successful candidate will, ideally, have the following:
- Previous kennel management experience is not necessarily essential, but experience of working with animals and the aptitude to progress is required.
- Ability to undertake overnight housesitting arrangements is essential.
- Experience of working with and understanding dogs and cats.
- Experience of managing and motivating other staff members.
- Calm under pressure.
- Positive attitude.
- An aptitude to work with all types of people and managing challenging situations.
A full UK driver’s license and own transport is essential due to our rural location. Reliance on public transport for this position is not viable.
