Vacancy: Kennel Assistants

Hours: 40 hours per week (worked on a rota from Monday to Sunday)

Salary: £22,672 per annum

We are seeking passionate individuals with a commitment to animal welfare to join our Kennel and Cattery team as a Kennel Assistant at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.

The Home has been a safe haven to stray animals since 1883, and still rescues over a thousand lost or abandoned dogs and cats every year. The Home benefits from skills and experience of our 50+ strong staff, comprised of long-serving kennel and cattery experts and enthusiastic new talent. Our small team is united by the love and dedication towards the animals in our care, and the belief that any dog or cat that comes to our door, whatever the reason, should be safe, warm, and well-fed.

As a Kennel Assistant you'll work to the Home's code of practice and Health and Safety guidelines, to provide exemplary daily care for the dogs and cats and educate potential new owners and the general public in the care and welfare of their animals, establishing excellent customer relations for the centre.

The successful candidates will be excellent communicators with the ability to show empathy to both people and animals. A strong team player, you'll have lots of energy teamed with a positive upbeat attitude. Experienced in working with or handling animals you'll be knowledgeable in basic behaviour and health issues and above all committed to the aims and objectives of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. The role requires a high standard of work with attention to detail and strong understanding and approach to animal welfare.
