We are a young, vibrant team with a strong digital strategy to move our business further into the digital space, and over the coming years will be growing that side of the business.
The Role
Working in a small team, the role is help to progress the web platform for two of our products (www.aviationbusinessnews.com and www.cruisetradenews.com), both of which are built on the WordPress platform. There is also our third website (www.worldofcruising.co.uk), which uses CraftCMS, so there is plenty of room to learn new technologies in the role and really get into the inner workings of our various CMS platforms.
We are looking for a junior PHP and front end developer with experience and interest in CMS (content management systems) who can help us improve our websites and help us take these projects forwards!
This is an exciting role for the right person with great opportunities for personal growth and in addition to this project, we have more exciting website properties either in build or planned for our other brands that we also want to develop and grow into market leaders.
This role is a hybrid UK position. We have an office in London, and occasional days at the office will be required.
Candidate Requirements
Required:
- PHP – WordPress, or any other popular CMS.
- Modern HTML and CSS
- JavaScript (vanilla and/or JQuery)
- MySQL – a good working knowledge of MySQL and database design
Desirable:
- Experience in any modern PHP frameworks, such as Yii, Laravel would be good, but any working knowledge of OOP PHP would be beneficial
- Experience in using CraftCMS is very desirable
- Experience using a modern CMS, particularly extending existing functionality
- Experience using a templating language
- Experience in modern front end build systems (eg. Webpack/gulp)
- PHP Package Management – ie. Composer
- Experience with, or knowledge of TailwindCSS
- Experience in dealing with big websites/web apps that deal with large amounts of traffic would be great
- Working knowledge of SEO techniques

Salary: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
