Astroscale UK are looking for a Junior Test Engineers to work with our Ground Systems team to perform the verification and validation of ground systems, including Mission Control System, Mission Planning System, Ground Stations Interface System, Flight dynamics systems and satellite simulator

Responsibilities

  • Perform verification & validation of the systems with other team members while ensuring requirements are met, including systems tests and simulation campaigns.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing integration, end to end system level test procedures
  • Defines test plans, test campaigns and test review meetings
  • Creates and configures test environments,
  • Analyses test results and follows issues,
  • Works closely with operation, software and ground segment systems teams
  • Gathers requirements and contributes to the Verification Control Document
  • Interface with the development team internally at Astroscale
  • Derive requirements for the ground segment in general and for specific components

Essential Skills


  • University degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Test Engineer or similar role
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Overall knowledge of the main components of a ground segment and how they interact between them.
  • Essential team player as well as proactive.
  • Excellent communication skills (required to interface with different cultures/nationalities)
  • Good reporting skills (for documentation, keeping track of changes, etc)
  • Overall understanding/knowledge of space mission design/development and standard milestones.
  • Knowledge of Requirements Engineering.
  • Experience with integration, verification and validation of ground segment
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.



Desirable skills


  • Familiarity with various system and unit level testing skills
  • Experience with Satellite Ground Segments and its components and their interactions
  • Experience or knowledge of Scrum
  • Knowledge of Satellite operations
  • Knowledge of Product life cycle
  • Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS
  • Basic Linux system administration, shell scripts, make, etc.
  • Development on Linux systems.
