Job description
The CCDC is looking for a Junior Software Engineer with a proven interest in cheminformatics, chemical structure, molecular simulation, or a similar numerate scientific field. You want to help researchers worldwide crack complex scientific problems by understanding their needs and then delivering high-quality scientific applications.
This is an opportunity for you to contribute to the advancement of science in a meaningful way by implementing intuitive and novel software that will enable data and knowledge from our comprehensive database of 3D chemical crystal structures to be exploited in academic research and across various industries.
Working in a Scrum team, you will help design, develop and release our software applications at the CCDC. You will learn from a team of experienced developers tackling interesting scientific development projects.
Good object-oriented programming and/or scripting skills along with an interest of all aspects of the software development lifecycle will be an advantage. We will train you in the areas of software engineering, with a view to implementing high-quality, high-performance, and genuinely useful scientific software.

The salary for this role is dependent on the academic and commercial experience of the successful candidate. We are flexible on the level of experience that the candidate will bring and will offer a competitive package accordingly.
