Description
Syscom PLC are looking for a Junior Software Developer Apprentice to join their team.
Responsibility
- The developer will be directed by the Support Manager.
- The developer will be responsible for the Support of pre-sales staff including on site demos and pre-sales Modifications.
- The developer from time to time may be requested to carry out training Courses for both customer and internal purposes.
- To develop programs to the specification provided by an Analyst in/for the appropriate language/operating system.
- Programs should be written to the appropriate standards, concise and adhere to the specification, should not include code or functionality superfluous to the specification.
- The programmer is expected to test his programs as fully as possible before delivering them for test.
- The programmer should be aware of the budgeted time for each program and strive to complete the program within that time without compromising the quality. The programmer is expected to program in Progress Openedge with SmartObject and GUI programming preferential and the PSTB (given appropriate Training).
- Other possible duties include being responsible for keeping Syscom's own copies of operating systems or languages up to date.
- To be responsible for reporting and progressing any operating system or language faults with their authors.
- Judged by number of faults found during tasking.
- Absence of time wasted by analysts in trying to run incorrect or incomplete programs.
- Performance against budget
- Availability of latest versions.
- Lack of uncorrected faults.
Minimum of 4 X GCSE’S grade A-C including English and Maths
