- Location: Hybrid – Working from the Hessle, Hull office with some homeworking
About the Team
The security team is an integral part of the IT Services department, responsible for all aspects of cyber security across the business. This is a small and developing team, seeking to implement standardised security tooling, de-risk our systems and platforms and improve our user awareness of security issues and vulnerabilities. The security team works closely with the other IT Services teams and departments across the wider business.
About the Role
The Junior SOC Analyst will review and respond to incidents that arise from our SIEM system and from other key security applications that we use. The role will triage and be the first line response to issues that arise from logs and alerts.
The Junior SOC Analyst will be part of the security team and report into the security engineer.
Role Responsibilities:
Security, works on:
- Responding to cyber security alerts that arise from our SIEM and other security systems.
- Triages incidents and provides first line support.
- Escalates security incidents to the security engineers where appropriate.
- Works with the Security team to develop playbooks for incident response.
- Looks for ways to improve our cyber security position.
Infrastructure, Network & Security:
- To work closely with the Support, Network and Security Teams to ensure efficient, collaborative working in both project work and business as usual activities.
Development:
- Continually look for ways in which to improve the systems and services that the department provides.
Work with knowledgebase and communications to ensure work instructions and processes are documented clearly and that all activities that may impact end users are communicated out effectively.
General:
- Participate in 1:1 meetings and annual performance reviews.
- Participate in training and continuing development to meet both your professional and the business needs.
- Participates in departmental, internal and external meetings as required.
- Participates in project and development work as required.
- Ensure you stay informed as to any technological improvements and developments in infrastructure, share these with the team and build them into future plans.
- Ensure industry standard best practise is adhered to wherever possible.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Previous experience in an IT Support or Security role
- Skills in responding to and resolving IT incidents.
- Experience of working with SIEM and EDR solutions.
Desirable:
- Experience of working as a SOC Analyst or in another security role.
Qualifications and Certifications that are relevant to the role.
