The role
As a Junior Security Operations Centre Analyst, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will identify, notify, and respond to security threats, carry out basic network and endpoint forensic triage, and work with various resolver groups to ensure the timely mitigation of security incidents.
- Escalating confirmed security incidents to senior analysts
- Update tickets, write incident reports, and document actions for false positive reduction
- Post incident review for ‘lessons learned’. This includes identifying the requirement for updating tools, processes and plans for incident response and increasing the effectiveness of detection systems as well working with other resolver groups to ensure similar attacks won’t succeed in the future
- Identifying log sources and examining system logs, which should record sufficient details about the normal activities of the system to allow a history of events to be reconstructed, making use of appropriate basic network and client forensic techniques and technologies
Essential experience of the Junior Security Operations Centre Analyst,
- A passion for information and cyber security and a keen interest in IT
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and an ability to analyse complex technical information in order to identify patterns and trends
- A curious mindset and the desire and ability to determine root cause
- Verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, with an ability to communicate with a range of technical and non-technical team members and other relevant individuals
- Written communication skills & the ability to write technical reports
This is a hybrid, flexible role based in the UK with adhoc on-site visits and training at the Portsmouth site.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS/SC (must be British Nationals) security clearance level for this role.
