The THE Japan University Rankings is one of the region rankings constructed on four pillars that demonstrate the broad strength of a university. This is a great opportunity to drive the product ownership of this ranking and collaboration with Benesse. You will become the subject matter expert on the Japan Ranking and be responsible for ensuring high quality delivery and continuous improvement. Key Tasks and responsibilities
THE are looking for a full time Product Owner to own the methodology and delivery of the Japan University Ranking and potential associated products
Key role responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Liaising with the Project Sponsor and Data Science team on the conceptual methodology of the ranking on timelines and deliverables.
- Understanding the needs of Japanese universities in ranking systems
- Demonstrating subject matter expertise on the conceptual and detailed methodology in conjunction with the Data Science team.
- Accurate and comprehensive documentation for the proposed methodology and solution
- Acting as the Product Owner for the portal development, where the portal is used to gather information from universities regarding their Japan submission
- Responsible for driving institution engagement and participation as well as reporting progress to stakeholders
- Ensuring the quality, validity and applicability of the data collected in association with the data quality manager.
- Supporting the data validation and help oversee the validation team output.
- Ongoing improvements in processes, approach, QA.
- Liaising with other areas within the Data team, including project management, data scientists who will build the rankings, and Data Operations Manager for engagement and participation numbers.
- Liaising with other team such as Sales, Consulting, Editorial on the methodology and results
- Ensuring an effective interface with third party providers of information and auditors
- Managing the relationship with our Japanese Partners Benesse
- Building strong relationships with institutions particularly in the context of data collection
- Managing customer enquiries regarding methodology and results
- Managing the release process
- Managing the corrections process (Appeals process)
- Contribute to building the reputation of the rankings and THE as a whole.
Education and experience requirements
- You will be able to demonstrate the aptitude and attitude to take responsibility for successful delivery of the Impact Ranking.
- You will be an excellent communicator, negotiator and influencer: the role involves close collaboration with external customers and key business stakeholders, product managers, data scientists, software and infrastructure engineers and commercial teams.
- You will also be comfortable with reporting at an executive level as the role will involve frequent senior management progress / milestone reporting updates.
- You will be highly motivated, delivery focussed, pragmatic and have an open and honest approach. Able to work both at a detail and strategic level as and when required.
- Knowledge of data analysis using tools such as RDBMS, SQL, Excel, etc an advantage but not a barrier.
- Professional experience in higher education and rankings is desirable although not mandatory.
- Japanese language skills required.
- Degree level education desirable

Salary: £37,372.20-£45,000.00 per year
