Assystem is an International Engineering Consultancy with significant growth plans within our Energy & Infrastructure business here in the UK.
Our Defence Platform office is based in Derby where we specialise in the management and design functions of submarine and nuclear projects within the UK.
Consequently, we are looking to recruit motivated and focused individuals to join our growing team.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Assystem Energy and Infrastructure are seeking a Junior Project Manager to support the growing defence platform at our offices in Derby. This role will be a mixture of office/hybrid and visits to client’s site.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the successful applicant will assist with overall project delivery, including cost and planning controls for work packages and administration.

Main Duties:
- Supporting the management of work packages or small projects to schedule, budget and quality – setting and monitoring budgets and preparing forecasts, tracking progress vs schedule, resource planning, management of sub-contractors.
- Interface with the Engineering Team Leads to identify and report: progress, scope changes, meeting actions, issues and risks.
- Responsible for planning – production and management of overall schedule, both internally and externally on smaller scale work packages
- Production of progress reports, both internally and externally. Presenting to stakeholders on smaller scale work packages/projects.
- Production and maintenance of Risk Register (internal and external)
- Supporting proposal writing budgeting and planning
- Creation, maintenance and approval of internal quality, cost and safety governance documentation packages
- Cost capture, monitoring and reporting to the Project Manager and AEIL framework partners
- Provide other process and admin support to governance, QA and the engineering team.
- HIVE system maintenance
- Purchase order creation and maintenance
- Project close-out and archiving
- Supporting invoicing activities
- Building positive relationships with Client and interfacing with them to report progress and resolve issues
MY PROFILE
Essential Skills and Behaviours
- Past project management or project engineering experience
- Past experience of managing elements of project cost capture/reporting
- Computer literate in MS Office in Outlook, Word, Excel and Project
- Self-motivated and able to work to deadlines without direction/supervision
- Good communicator with a “can do attitude”
- Flexible in approach to work
- Attention to detail
- High customer service orientation
Qualifications:
- Degree preferred, or other equivalent qualification
- APM, Prince 2 or other project management qualifications would benefit
Experience
- Knowledge of engineering projects
- Experience of working in the Nuclear/Defence Industry is an advantage but not essential
- MS Project experience would benefit but is not essential
Security clearance:
- SC desirable but not essential to start
- Sole UK National
