Responsibilities
As a junior engineer, you will perform routine, entry-level tasks under the supervision of the Platform Team Lead with the goal of developing more advanced applied engineering skills. You will also provide operational support as required, and support the team on-call rota when you are up to speed.
Ensuring that our infrastructure is well maintained and highly secure
Ensuring that our customers get the best quality of service and uptime possible
Collaborate and work within the team and also across the wider engineering function
Identify potential tools and processes to ensure and improve scalability, reliability, availability, security, and performance across our technology stack
Identify and report problems with specific processes or solutions to our Senior Platform Engineers
Evangelise best practices through effective consultation with your peers
Live and breathe a DevOps mindset
Engage with the wider teams to automate and improve our tools and processes
Write, review and take responsibility for technical documentation

Not afraid of doing what's right, rather than what's easy
2+ years in a similar role(s) with real-world practical experience
Passionate about SRE principles (SLA, SLOs, SLIs, Postmortems etc)
Knowledge of Azure and the Well-Architected Framework
1+ years industry programming experience - a significant portion of this will be delivering solutions into the cloud (PaaS/IaaS)
An understanding of developing (or able to discuss) the operational and non-functional concerns (monitoring integration, performance testing, scale, availability and resilience, and security considerations)
Proficient in one of the following - JavaScript/Node.js/Golang - with an aptitude and keenness to learn more
Some experience supporting and delivering solutions into a major cloud provider (Azure experience an advantage)
Experience with CI/CD systems (ideally including Circle CI)
Some experience with or knowledge of systems management solutions and their orchestration - eg. Terraform/Cloudformation
An understanding of Kubernetes and how it works
An understanding of package management solutions for Kubernetes - e.g. Helm
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Experience with using Git source control in a workplace setting
Desirable
Experience using and developing for AWS and other cloud vendors
Experience with Linux - e.g. sysadmin skills
Experience with other programming language experience such as JAVA, Python, PHP etc
Understanding of test-driven development and broader testing and QA concerns
Understanding of Agile methodologies
An understanding of frontend frameworks and libraries (React, etc.)
Experience of writing games or backend game services
Database skills including SQL and NOSQL
Data analysis/design skills
