THE ROLE
The junior merchandiser works closely with the senior merchandiser and merchandiser in supporting the planning and forecasting of global channels to deliver company strategy for the RTW merchandising department. You will be producing analysis and learning about each channel to ensure company strategy is filtered through all channels globally.
You will have an affinity for product and a strong commercial awareness to ensure we deliver the strongest range possible by working closely with the buying, trading, production and wholesale teams.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
- Responsible for full ownership of planning and trading categories with support from the merchandiser.
- Ensure planning is focused across all KPIS to deliver company strategy.
- Creating and maintaining performance trackers for global business overview.
- Reforecasting WSSIs through accurate sales, markdown, intake and stock input to ensure plan and forecast always reflect the most up to date business view.
- Manage the intake flow into the business to hit monthly forecasts, drive sales and minimise risks. Monitor wholesale & retail products, sell throughs and work with the regional trading teams to manage company inventory.
- Management and in-season trading of OTB to deliver the inventory targets for own categories.
- Support in preparing the Monday trade pack and presenting performance to the relevant teams.
- Own continuity ordering for all global functions within own categories working closely with trading and production teams to ensure appropriate stock flow.
- Track replenishment and performance against forecasts to determine areas of opportunity and risks.
- Category ownership within quarterly buys for full price and outlet: analysing sales, product selection, sales/ST% forecasting and buy planning in line with OTB. Working in conjunction with the buying team to build commercial ranges, and present to the senior team for sign off.
- Develop and manage cross functional relationships communicating strategies as necessary and support with various data requests and analysis.
- End of month and season analysis providing lessons learnt to the senior team.
- Leading and developing the assistant merchandiser and MAA and working closely with peers to help create a best in class merch function.
- Support to develop current systems and processes that are in place to drive best practices.
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED FOR THE ROLE?
- Previous experience in retail merchandising or planning and wholesale sales. Operating at Senior am level or jm level.
- Experience of managing and developing team members ensuring an efficient working practice.
- Knowledge of reporting systems with ability to manipulate data to produce reports accurately and efficiently at ease.
- With a merchandising background you will naturally have strong excel skills.
- Confident and able to make and execute decisions at pace.
- Ability to adapt to change and positively influence the team to change.
- Organisational and timekeeping skills to manage teams workload and deadlines.
- The ability to understand priorities of retail and head office.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of the brand.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
