We are excited to be able to advertise for the position of Junior Medical Education Fellow, based at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The vacancy is for those that can start in September 2023 for 9 months fixed term with a stipulation of 1-month unpaid leave from 11thDec ‘23- 7thJan ‘24. There may be an option to complete a clinical rotation within the trust during this month if the postholder wishes to do so. We can also signpost to rota co-ordinators to help sign up for locum work.
The post holder will be an individual who is a fully registered medical practitioner and who has a keen interest in medical education. You should normally have completed FY2 with evidence of satisfactory ARCP.The post holder will be involved in the education of medical students on placement at BTHFT from Years 1-5 of the University of Leeds and Trainee Physician Associates from both the University of Leeds and University of Bradford.
The post holder will work collaboratively to contribute to various aspects of the delivery of Undergraduate Medical education within the Trust.

Main duties will include;
- Organising, planning and running of educational sessions for Medical, Physician Associates and other students, in addition to trust staff.
- Delivery of education on a range of medical education curriculum topics and clinical skills.
- Facilitate innovative ways to teach, including bedside teaching, virtual teaching and simulation based teaching.
- You will also take part in assessment and feedback of students’ clinical skills and examine in the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
- To be responsible for a series of placement areas and will act as a link between these areas and the University of Leeds Medical School / University of Bradford Health Science School.
- You will also be part of the wider team within the Education Service helping to facilitate the educational requirements of the Trust as a whole.

Levels of Responsibility
The post holder will be expected to take personal responsibility for their own projects, working independently, but within the educational governance framework, and working within a prospectively agreed job plan.
Education
- Contribute to the assessment of students in collaboration with medical colleagues and take part as examiners in the annual OSCE exams.
- Teach and observe history taking and physiological systems examination and a range of practical clinical skills as required by the undergraduate curriculum.
- Contribute to inter-professional teaching of history taking and examination techniques and clinical skills where appropriate.
- Regularly review/update teaching materials – amend as indicated by evidence/research.
- Contribute to research activities and make use of developmental opportunities to improve self and the service.
- To support the department in ensuring educators within the department have appropriate and up to date clinical skills.
- Co-lead on a certain learner group alongside another member of the Undergraduate Medical education team.
