Job description
Brilliant Lighting are a leading lighting design and Lutron lighting controls dealer, seeking to recruit and develop a junior lighting controls engineer. Based in North Yorkshire, we work on highly prestigious projects across the UK and occasionally abroad.
The successful candidate will be electrically qualified and/or very competent, with experience of working in residential construction, but without necessarily any previous experience in lighting controls. Attitude and ability to learn are more important than lighting controls experience, as we will intensively train and develop.
The role would suit an electrician who would like to expand their horizons, and develop a real expertise working at the top end of the lighting field. As both a leading lighting design firm and a Platinum level Lutron dealer we have a unique 'end to end' approach, and a very close working relationship with our clients. We are looking to recruit someone who can learn, grow, and manage parts of the business in the future.
Under guidance from other very experienced members of the team the immediate role will be wide ranging but will include:
- Designing, programming and commissioning lighting control systems, primarily Lutron HomeWorks.
- Installing and commissioning Lutron electric blinds and curtain tracks.
- Helping to solve onsite lighting issues. This can be very ‘hands on.’
- Helping maintain the office premises and lighting displays.
For any new member of the team, we expect to do a lot of training either on courses or on the job. Successful candidates will have/be the following:
- Electrically qualified (ideally) or electrically very competent.
- At least 3 years experience of working in high end residential construction.
- With experience of lighting or AV controls an advantage but not essential
- Networking experience an advantage but not essential
- Curious, hungry to learn, and with a 'can do' attitude
- Organised and professional
- Great attention to detail
- Good communicator with a wide range of people (eg; clients, site teams)
- Willing and able to travel to project sites. The amount varies on a weekly basis; the role is not office based but it's not 'working away' either.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced small team environment
- Driving license
- Non smoker
- Fluent English
The role will be based out of our offices in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and you need to be within a commutable distance of Thirsk (most of the team live within c.1-1.5 hours of the office.) Projects are northern biased but we work nationally and being onsite when required is important.
