Job description
Robin was established in March 2019 by CEO Richard Robinson (a former City lawyer) and CTO James Clough (a theoretical physicist who works in Machine Learning). They have since assembled a talented and diverse team of legal, software and machine learning engineers to build the next generation of contracting tools.
Robin AI is an exciting, venture-backed technology start-up using software, artificial intelligence and human intelligence to make contracts simple. Backed by leading VCs Episode 1 and Forward Partners, and, most recently Google, Robin is building a range of products which use machine learning (in particular, natural language processing) to fundamentally change the legal industry. Robin was established in March 2019 by CEO Richard Robinson (a former lawyer) and CTO James Clough (a theoretical physicist who works in Machine Learning). They have since assembled a talented and diverse team of legal, software and machine learning engineers to build the next generation of contracting tools.
We’re looking for talented lawyers who want to practice law differently. We understand that who you are personally matters just as much as who you are professionally. Providing an inclusive work environment is a core part of who we are as a business, so we’re looking for people who may have found that the traditional working styles of private practice or in-house practice didn’t quite work for them. If you're a qualified lawyer, that's great - but our team is made up of many talented people who have chosen not to pursue qualification, or perhaps at a later date.
The Role
We’re looking for someone who is both technical and commercial, both in the practice of law and outside of it. You will fully embrace working flexibly and remotely. You’ll be interested in tech, but don’t need to be any good with it (we can teach you that!) and you’ll want to get involved in learning how to draft and review classic transactional documents like NDAs, release letters, back-to-back NDAs, plus some commercial contracts such as Supplier Agreements, Master Services Agreements etc. You'll have an interest in helping our team work more efficiently, including developing processes to help us manage our legal and technology workstreams. Finally, we are very committed to building a diverse team across multiple dimensions. We feel this is fundamental to our culture and actively look for people who share this passion. Providing an inclusive work environment is a core part of who we are as a business, so we’re looking for people who are interested in alternatives beyond the traditional.

Responsibilities
Your Skills
You may be searching for your first legal role out of university, or you may have had a couple of years of paralegal experience within law firms or companies. You will have some legal training, whether that is a law degree, conversion course or some applied legal work experience (ideally of more than 18 months). You will have a strong interest in the business world, in particular private equity transactions and other forms of M&A deals. You will have a keen commercial sense (and a strong desire to hone it further!) and you will have a pretty good grasp of financial jargon. You will believe in the opportunities presented by new technologies to augment and disrupt the traditional world of City transactions, and will want to work alongside world-class AI engineers on the cutting edge. Last (but certainly not least) you will enjoy working in a stimulating, diverse and intellectually challenging environment where multi-disciplinary collaboration is essential to completing projects and achieving results for our incredible clients.

In building our team, we welcome the unique contributions that you can bring, and welcome applications regardless of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, education, opinions, nation of origin, languages spoken, age, pregnancy and maternity, or veteran’s status.
