- Job Title: Junior IT Technician
- Job Type: Permanent, Full time
- Location: Newport, South Wales / Home working
- Salary: £18,000-20,000.00 pa depending on experience.
- Reports to: IT Support Manager / Group IT Director
- Remote / Office based: Primarily office based with some remote working.
The ideal candidate will be looking to start their career in IT, be driven and motivated. We are looking for someone who is passionate, hard-working and career driven.
Experience Required:
- Experience of working in a busy business IT environment.
- Knowledge of Windows 11.
- Basic knowledge/understanding of networking, IP addresses, subnets, etc.
- Experience of customer support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and resolving issues reported to the IT Helpdesk.
- Ensuring all tickets are assigned and correctly categorised.
- Tracking work in progress and recording issues and solutions.
- Writing hints and tips/guides for users.
- Managing your own work allocation, productivity, and quality of work with minimum supervision.
- Creating and maintaining user accounts.
- Looking after IT stock, including booking in/out equipment.
- Troubleshooting technical problems, both hardware and software.
- Carrying out initial investigations and escalating issues where required.
- Experience working with customers.
- Excellent problem-solving and resolution abilities covering a range of software, hardware, and network issues.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Evidence of providing a customer service focused approach.
- Good time management adopting a flexible approach to work.
- Evidence of working well in a team.
If you don’t possess these skills, there is the potential to learn them on the job.
- Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD.
- Exposure/experience with cloud environments, e.g., Microsoft 365, AWS.
- Experience with Linux systems.
- Recognised qualifications and certifications in any server / networking technologies / desktop support.
- Understanding and awareness of email and cyber security, including best practices.
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent level in English and Mathematics.
- Appropriate support or technical knowledge gained through a combination of experience and specialist training. Examples include Cisco CCNA or CompTIA certifications.
