Founded in 1998, Amelia Knight is a successful family business that supplies trend-led cosmetics and skincare products direct to retailers around the world. Their customer base includes the likes of ASOS, Primark, Selfridges and accounts worldwide. Product architecture including copy writing for formulation developments, key ingredient call outs and line up presentations.
We are looking for a Junior Formulation Chemist with a degree in Cosmetic Science/Chemistry to work in a small lab focusing mainly on colour cosmetics.
With previous lab experience, ideally in colour cosmetics formulation, you will work closely with the Technical and NPD teams to formulate new ideas and concepts.
You will also carry out initial stability testing, create specifications, ensure formulations are up to quality standards and that they are compliant to global cosmetic regulatory requirements.
You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines and be very organised to keep on top of a small but fast paced laboratory. Experience in colour matching and skin care formulation is preferably but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
· To prepare product samples and undertake development work under the supervision of the senior lab team
· To help with co-ordination of production of samples to fit given briefs and for testing purposes within deadlines, ensuring samples are accurately produced and appropriately presented
· To keep accurate records if all work undertaken in accordance with instructions and processes
· To be able to problem solve and flag any issues that might arise during product development and be able to learn the technologies used in order to put forward solutions using technical knowledge
· To be able to work collaboratively with the wider lab team, regulatory teams and NPD teams and be committed to ensuring open and honest communication
· To work with raw material suppliers to gain knowledge and insights and to ensure materials are available to meet brief and deadlines
· To provide detailed and accurate feedback on lab development work to the development and implementation team in order to support successful scale-up in production via manufacturing processes and relevant testing data (microscopy, observations etc.). To assist with attending production when needed
· Aid in the development of lab processes, inc., colour library, active ingredients library etc.
