Job Title: Junior Flammability Technician
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 34 hours per week

Main Purpose of Role
- To provide Flammability testing services in the most safe, effective and efficient manner possible.
- Ensure the lab works to UKAS & SGS Quality systems and procedures
- Maintain good H&S throughout the lab
- To provide support for Flammability, chemical and Fibre composition testing to Chemistry/Flammability Team Leader
Key Accountabilities

- At all times, adopt a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and clients, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- To take responsibility for the operation of all testing carried out by yourself under provision of the Chemistry/Flammability Team Leader in order to provide efficient and timely results for our clients.
- Under the supervision of the Chemistry/Flammability Team Leader, plan and oversee the development of fibre composition, chemistry and flammability activities in line with the overall business objectives to maximum the revenue on site.
- Sharing the provision of Technical expertise with clients, GKAM’s and other SGS employees.
- To aim to establish more efficient work methods with a particular emphasis on testing accuracy, good house-keeping, good tracking and achievement of quoted turn-around times.
Essential
- Good communication
- Knowledge of up to date test methods/UKAS & SGS quality procedures
- Experience in a working laboratory working to good laboratory practise (preferably UKAS or otherwise accredited)
- GCSE English & Maths
Desirable
- Knowledge of textiles, yarns, garments and flammability/chemical tests
- Familiar with UKAS accreditation and audits
- Previous Textile testing experience
- Textile related qualification
