Purpose of the role:

The role holder works across the business to assist in the preparation of key financial information to ensure that the business makes well-informed decisions to for future stability, growth and profitability. The Junior Finance Analyst helps to establish and maintain a range of reports to assist the business and support the Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”) team across month end reporting, budgeting and forecasting as well as business intelligence. The role requires a thirst for knowledge, attention to detail as well as strong number skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Month End:

  • Preparation and reconciliation of month end files across all areas of the business

  • Assist with variance analysis and commentary against Budget, Forecast and Prior Year by event.

  • Prepare monthly utilisation and yields providing insights on variances to prior years.

  • Prepare and distribute event P&Ls including variances to Budget, Forecast and prior years

  • Be responsible for running all final month end reports and ensuring they reconcile

  • Update forecast files with actuals including P&L, event budgets and overheads.

  • Provide visitor number reporting

  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation

  • Support Finance Analysts with preparation of management pack and ADNEC reporting

2. Sales Reporting:

  • Maintain Event ID matrix for Exhibitions and Conference & Events (“C&E”) on an ongoing basis.

  • Work with sales team to confirm all events are correctly recorded on Ungerboeck, flagging issues and ensuring they are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Work with sales team to develop best practise and improve data quality.

  • Assist in creation and amendment of Power BI reports.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process supporting the Finance Analysts.

  • Update Budget and Forecast templates with latest events list and ensure prior year comparisons are provided where applicable.

  • Update sales forecast based on latest data warehouse prior to weekly meetings with FP&A and Sales

  • Liaise with Sales Support and Sales to understand the space (GSMD) and footfall assumptions included in the Budget/Forecast and the implications this has on yield and utilisation.

  • Assist with data gathering requests

4. Business Intelligence/Systems

  • Assist in development of Jet Reporting capabilities to provide automation to processes and increase accuracy in reports

  • Provide support in building excel based modelling and identify ways to improve existing files. Present data clearly and professionally formatted.

  • Work with Systems team and Finance Analyst to assist development of Business Intelligence reporting and dashboards. Ensure that any financials reported reconcile.

  • Identify automation that can be made through working closely with Business Systems team, understand limitations and be able to resolve these.

5. Ad Hoc

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of relevant industry information.

  • Produce event specific reports/assessments that will add value to the business.

  • Provide cover for Finance Analysts and an understanding of their day to day duties.

  • Self-learning to improve and build upon Excel, Jet Reporting and Power BI skills to an advanced level

  • Providing ad hoc requests for historical data

Experience:

  • Proficient user of full Microsoft Office suite (Excel intermediate to advanced level – sumifs/vlookups/pivots)
