Job description
The Pulmonary Oncology Unit (POU) at Wythenshawe Hospital is a dedicated oncology unit which provides systemic anti-cancer therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy) and palliative care services to 550 new patients annually diagnosed with early and advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, Small Cell Lung Cancer, Thymic Malignancies and Malignant Mesothelioma.
This is a 10 session Specialists Trainee (ST) equivalent Clinical Fellow Post. It is based at Wythenshawe Hospital on the Pulmonary Oncology Unit. This position is suitable for individuals who wish to gain specialist training and experience in the care of patients with lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma, and associated clinical research with a focus on clinical trial design and delivery.
Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration -MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for candidates who are offered permanent vacancies.
To be a Clinical Research Fellow (CRF) at the Pulmonary Oncology Unit, Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust under the supervision of Drs. Taylor, Summers, Califano and Cove-Smith. This will involve close liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team in particular research nurses, chemotherapy nurses, MacMillan nurses and trial administrators. A major role of this new post will be to implement evidence based best practice for patients who are being treated on clinical trials at Wythenshawe Hospital and to support the associated clinical research work.
