Job description
- Junior Ensemble Director (Early Years) at Theatretrain Norwich
- Nurturing young performers aged 4-5
- Exciting Saturday singing, dancing and acting sessions
Experience or qualifications in the performing arts? Love working with young children? How would you like to join an innovative theatre training company as our Junior Ensemble Director?
We are so much more than a performing arts school–we are a team-based professional theatre training company for young people aged 3-18. With us, you’ll be able to pass your expertise and love for theatre on to our youngest group. No curriculum to weigh you down and no two sessions the same!
As Junior Ensemble Director, you will lead sessions for our younger cohort (aged 4-5) starting at the moment with one session every Saturday from 11.15 to 12.45 at Hellesdon High School.
If this session becomes full because you are doing such an awesome job, then the aim is to open up a second session, thus providing you with extra work.
Your role is to nurture an excitement for performance in our children through carefully planned sessions on movement, body, mind, emotion and music.
Acting, music and dance cannot be separated from one another with Theatretrain: you must be an all-rounder who can teach all three to an Early Years cohort.
It also helps to visualise the Junior Ensemble as an extension of our older groups: since many children stay with us until they are adults, your role is to prepare them for the theatrical challenges ahead.
If you’re excited by the prospect of helping children grow up to share your passion for theatre, then this position is for you. Ideally you’ll have...
- Experience of working with young children
- Professional performing arts training with some professional experience
- Great leadership skills that emulate patience and compassion, but also enthusiasm and energy for your craft
- Original ideas for working with 4-5-year-olds to realise impactful growth as performers
- The ability to devise theatre, harmonies and choreography that is age and skill appropriate
- Piano skills (desirable but not required)
- An in-date DBS (or be happy to apply for one)
If you’re ready to change lives every weekend, send your CV and a cover letter to Hayley at [email protected]
We look forward to hearing from you!
