Junior Engineer
Permanent/Full Time
Have you just recently graduated in Chemical Engineering and looking for a company that will support you in the
first step in your career?
We are looking for a Junior Engineer with a Chemical Engineering background to join our growing engineering team,
predominantly based in Middlesbrough but with a willingness to travel and carry out duties on our other sites
throughout the UK and occasionally, abroad. This is a very exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic applicant to work
with our multiskilled engineering team, who are continuously developing their skillset to meet the demands of a
growing business. This role will be developmental, with a 4-year progression plan to work your way up to a role as a
full engineer, through the support of the business.
The ideal candidate will have an appropriate chemical engineering degree and will be also willing to work outside of
their area of expertise, learning other areas of on-site engineering and maintenance throughout their development
period. This may include but is by no means limited to Process Safety, HAZOP, DSEAR, COMAH etc.
What you’ll be doing…
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing support to the Group whilst
developing your skill set, including
- Provide Chemical Process Engineering knowledge to the engineering team, particularly during projects and
modifications.
- Carry out, with the aid of existing engineering staff, engineering tasks such as project planning, problem
solving & contractor liaison.
- Lead, with the aid of other engineering staff, small to medium sized projects and engineering tasks
- Help manage department documents regarding Projects, Management of Change & Contractor Selection
- Support the engineering team in non-project-based activities such as writing procedures, resource planning,
establishing policy, budgeting, recruitment etc, to support the drive to continuously improve & optimise the
operation of the engineering department.
- Help shape your own development plan, planning and participating in training and coaching as required.
Your background…
Must have…
- Degree in chemical process engineering
- Good level of IT competency essential,
particularly in Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel as required, with own
transport preferable.
- Willingness to expand knowledge into other
areas of engineering and site maintenance,
whilst developing their current skills
Nice to have…
- Knowledge of the COMAH regulations
- Knowledge of DSEAR/ATEX regulations
- Experience with Autocad, particularly in the
production of P & IDs & PFDs
- Some experience in the chemical and/or
personal care industries
