When it comes to the design work that defines our brand, we're always blazing a trail. Right now, we’re looking for a Junior Designer to produce creative work that will make the future of Clarks better-looking for consumers and trade partners alike.
The role
This is your opportunity to learn from the best in the business. With us, you’ll develop a thorough understanding of leathers, constructions and the shoemaking process. Working with the creative team lead you could be creating new upper pattern designs and tweaks to our impressive catalogue of icons to bring freshness and excitement to the range. Using the archive and innovation to develop new product concepts that meet the briefs and fit both the brand DNA and the seasonal strategy. Researching trends and interpreting them through a Clarks lens and deciding what is relevant for our brand and then presenting them back during the range review process.
Responsibilities
Assist the Senior Designer in researching design ideas and details following design brief and brand profile
Support product development side of the process with CADs and mockups as well as any in house design tasks
Assist in concept ideation, and creation of technical packages/specifications
Researching new materials, and maintaining the materials library
Participate in consumer and trend research
Assisting in meetings by handling prototypes, organizing materials, or presenting color schemes
Assisting in day-to-day administrative tasks & client relations
About you
As well as a Bachelor degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design or equivalent, you’ll need an exceptional level of creativity and a real flair for design. You’ll have at least two years’ experience in a footwear or product design role and understand the importance of brand DNA. We’re looking for evidence that you are professional and can deliver high quality work with good organizational skills, ability to hit deadlines and manage your own time and workload.
Equally important is the ability to give opinions and receive feedback in a positive way and work well with others to develop footwear concepts. Open minded and keen to learn, when it comes to the design process you're not afraid to explore new avenues. What’s more, you have the illustration and visualisation skills it takes to communicate a design superbly using design software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Degree level education in footwear, industrial or fashion design and verifiable industry equivalent experience of at least 2 years
Excellent CAD skills for rendering of designs in various software programmes such as Illustrator, Photoshop
Self-motivated and great interpersonal skills and team player
Knowledge of footwear construction, leather knowledge, patterns and trend research
Must have strong organization and communication skills
Team player with a great attitude and passion for design
