Job description
Are you passionate about motion and visual design with a sharp eye for details? We’re looking for a junior designer to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a love for building smart and impactful narratives through motion graphics and animations. Working with our global team of editors and analysts you’ll be visually communicating insights that bring our human-focused research to life. From designing reports that analyse how teens use TikTok to using motion design that communicates why CBD is such a big deal, no one day is ever the same.
About Us
We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice operating out of London, NY, LA, & Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions.
Our work is about investigating the hidden insights in everyday life – from the psychology of boredom to teenage make-up rituals to why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing – and making them meaningful for brands. Our team is a blend of different disciplines and skills – from psychology to journalism, and anthropology to behavioural economics. What unites them is a desire to understand people and a passion for delivering outstanding work.
Primarily focused on media, communications, and product development, our insights inspire clients including Nike, Google, Lego and Ogilvy.
About the role
Working with the design team, you’ll be maintaining the visual strength of the Canvas8 Library by sourcing images and creating infographics that champion our research. Working with our editors and analysts, you’ll be developing motion graphics and animations that communicate our insights, experimenting with digital layouts to elevate our Library platform, and editing short films that inspire our clients. If you’re an amazing storyteller, we have some phenomenal stories for you!
The day-to-day
Working across editorial and consultancy projects, you will be responsible for:
- Creating bespoke motion graphics and editing videos to inspire our clients
- Designing web pages and online decks to enhance our platform
- Experimenting with new ways to use video and motion to support our sales and marketing
- Supporting the design team on deliverables with image sourcing, templating, and artworking
- Communicating a passion for people and culture through your work
About you
You'll be a unique and vivid storyteller who is passionate about building innovative and impactful narratives though motion graphics and animations. You’ll also be comfortable with video editing, web and UX design. Working across both our online platform and our research consultancy projects, you will be keen to get stuck into all the varied deliverables we produce, although you’ll come into your own as you ignite powerful stories with motion graphics.
You’ll work alongside a small team of visual and multidisciplinary designers and you will collaborate daily with our writers, analysts, strategists, and product teams to create bespoke video content for our global audience. You’ll be commercially aware and culturally attuned, and if you can translate difficult concepts into inspiring digital, video and motion design, then this is the role for you!
