We are now looking for a Junior Design Engineer to join our team in Sheffield, UK.
What kind of work will you be doing?
- Make design decisions supported by reference to relevant BS, IEC and EN standards, customer requirements, company build standards and calculations.
- Compilation of parts lists and bills of material.
- Identification of non-standard parts requirements and coordination with approved suppliers.
- Production of manufacturing drawings.
- Production of technical or engineering design support information and drawings for product support, project management and other inter-departmental staff.
- Provision of engineering support to workshop team building the equipment.
- Provision of engineering support to sales applications engineers to support the provision of customer quotations. In exceptional circumstances this may involve site visits.
What will make you successful?
- Ideally a graduate with relevant Electrical Engineering degree or electrical HNC/HND (NVQ Level 4 or 5) with relevant product and application knowledge and experience, however candidates with relevant alternative electrical qualifications and experience or a background in the panel building industry will also be considered.
- Auto CAD LT or compatible 2D CAD capability required.
- C&G 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations beneficial.
- Wide standby power and emergency lighting equipment applications, manufacturing, support and design experience, with emphasis on the UK rail and emergency lighting markets will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of current applicable European Directives and British, European and International Standards will be an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to successfully interface with customers, various internal departments, and personnel at all levels.
- Multi-tasking ability with a flexible approach to work.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Nice to have experience in switchgear, manufacturing
