Junior Design Assistant – Ladies and Girlswear
Poetic Brands (Watford, UK) are looking for a highly motivated individual to work in the Licensed Apparel design room assisting both the Ladieswear and Girlswear design teams.
You will be assisting the design team with various aspects of the design & production process, helping with the development of ranges across multiple licenses for daywear, nightwear & accessories.
This will include graphic, print & shape, helping to supply commercial designs and ranges to UK high street and online customers, including Asos, BooHoo, Tesco, Next, George, Matalan and many others.

Job Purpose: To assist the design room across a number of departments / accounts.
Reporting Line: Senior Designer(s), Ladieswear
Direct Reports: N/A
Working Relationships (Internal/External): Design Team; Customers, Suppliers, Licensors.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Carrying out trend research and analysis and creating mood boards and colour trends. To include “Comp Shop” trips within the UK.
- Creation of detailed cad sheets & artworking design for print where required
- Creation of commercial graphics and prints to be included within ranges for customers.
- Readying presentations of ranges for customers.
- Assisting with the development and sourcing of new trims and fabrics.
- Ensuring that samples produced are accurate in line with specification.
- Upkeep of samples and showroom
- Updating roster sheets & events calendar
- Attending industry trade fairs and maintaining a strong awareness of current product on the High Street.
- Liaising with Licensors to ensure the design team has full and up to date knowledge of respective properties, with some attendance at licensor specific events, eg showcases.
Experience / Skills:
- Fashion design degree or similar qualification.
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Hunger to learn.
- Strong organisational skills and accuracy critical
- Capable of working to and managing deadlines
- Able to travel both in the UK and abroad.
- Some knowledge of garment construction beneficial
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Up to £19,000.00 per year
