Within the Security Data Science Team, the candidate will have a passion to learn and implement innovative technology and methodologies as well as the ability to work in both an individual and group environment. This position requires a highly motivated individual who will relish working to improve the organization’s use of data and security posture to reduce risk.

This technical role would be perfect for a junior or intermediate data analyst that has a passion for cybersecurity and machine learning that would like to have a strong impact in protecting Pearson and its customers.

Competencies:

• Working knowledge in data mining techniques
• Demonstrable working knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, including model evaluation and optimisation
• Familiarity with security technologies including firewall, DNS, SIEM, vulnerability scanning.
• Familiarity with Agile working
• Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL database platforms
• Familiarity of cloud solutions
• Experience in working with complex data, including extracting, merging, cleaning and manipulating large data sets.
• Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with technical and non-specialist colleagues
• Understanding and working knowledge of machine learning techniques, tech and tools
• Experience of working with cyber security data and/or cyber security environment
