About the Role
ICSR Lab is a cloud computing platform via which Elsevier makes our large metadata datasets available to small groups of academic researchers from universities around the world. The main dataset is Scopus, a curated and cleaned database of scientific publications and the citation links between them, that in this context is used to study themes such as diversity and inclusion in science, research careers, and novel ways of working with the scientific co-author graph or citation graph. You will be entering an industry environment and contributing to this meaningful program that supports >100 bibliometric data analysis projects.
Responsibilities
- Running onboarding sessions via Zoom for new projects
- Responding to queries and requests from ICSR Lab users
- Maintaining project administration, tracking and documentation
- Developing own research ideas (relating to the field of scientometrics)
- Remaining connected to the academic community and having opportunities to engage with this group at events/conferences/through assisting their work
Requirements
- Be degree educated within a relevant field
- Be comfortable to run and interpret others’ Python scripts and do research into new technical concepts
- Experience using Python or R to write papers or deliver software projects/data analyses
- Be fluent in a bibliometric dataset like Scopus/Web of Science/MAG/OpenAlex
- Be able to communicate effectively via email and Zoom to help with technical problem-solving, demonstrate software features and correct usage
- Be part of a research community through participation in conferences or local events
- Have knowledge of current research trends and techniques
