About Anthesis
Anthesis is the Sustainability Activator. Our goal is to unleash the power of organisations to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, halt biodiversity loss, and shape a more inclusive global economy that meets the fundamental needs of people everywhere.
To do this, we act as a partner to organisations prepared to take meaningful steps towards sustainable performance, and to drive wider systems change.
Anthesis brings together a team of more than 1,100 sustainability professionals worldwide. The company combines a unique breadth and depth of expertise in sustainability subjects with strategic and generalist capabilities to translate expert analysis into actionable solutions for organisations, supported by high quality digital products and carbon projects.
Anthesis was founded in 2013, and has grown rapidly through a combination of acquisition and robust organic growth, and serves many of the world’s leading companies as well as public and third sector clients. We have a distinctly unified, purposeful and entrepreneurial culture, bound together by a common commitment to sustainability. We are backed by the top-tier private equity investor, Carlyle Group, who are committed enablers of our commercial and impact growth.
Our growing UK Strategy and Finance team is focused on serving both financial and corporate clients in the development, implementation and communication of robust, impact driven and commercially viable ESG and sustainability strategies, as well as undertaking ESG due diligence on behalf of investors. Demand for this work is increasingly underpinned by compliance requirements, such as the SFDR and CSRD, and a significant part of our work involves helping clients understand and conform to these requirements. However, we are not a compliance-oriented team, and always seek to use these processes to guide our clients towards sources of organisational value and positive social and environmental impact.
While this team is UK based, we work extensively with multinational clients, and collaborate across borders with Anthesians around the world.
At Anthesis Group, we are truly committed to putting people and our planet at the heart of all we do.
We encourage all employees to contribute their ideas, perspectives, and experiences to help us create an inclusive and equitable workplace. By embracing diversity and providing equal opportunities, we believe we can drive innovation, foster creativity, and achieve our shared goals. So, if you’re ready to be a part of something truly extraordinary, then we want you! Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender perception or identify, national origin, age, pregnancy, marital status, protected veteran status, or disability status.
Together, we can continue to build a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed and thrive.
If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made to your application process, or need this job advert in a different format, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help.
The Role
Our Junior Consultants are the future of the team, and we seek to create an environment in which they are both challenged and well supported for fast growth and development through their early careers.
Our Junior Consultants are highly client-focused, and closely involved in supporting project teams in research, synthesis, and analysis of the many sources of data that contribute to project delivery, as well as the drafting and presentation of project deliverables. Junior Consultants are also often involved in project management.
As a Junior Consultant, you would typically be line managed by a Principal or Senior Consultant. While you will not always be working on projects with your line manager, their role is to help you guide, support and manage your performance and growth in Anthesis.
The Candidate
We believe that great contributors can come from various backgrounds, and typically Junior Consultants have not yet had the time to accrue lots of experience in the field. As guidance, at this level, we’d typically look for:
- A good degree or equivalent level qualification from a respected institution, with relevant subjects preferred, but not essential (e.g. finance, business, sustainability, environmental management, geography).
- A demonstrated passion for sustainability, and awareness and familiarity with the key concepts, issues and frameworks of sustainability and ESG.
- Ideally 1-3 years of work experience in a comparable setting. (Preferred, but not required)
- Good working familiarity with MC Office Suite is required, with high levels of numeracy and good Excel skills preferred.
Personal Qualities
Strategy consulting is a demanding and multifaceted discipline, and great candidates will display a blend of different strengths. We don’t expect everybody to be great at everything, but in general, we value team members who are:
Purposeful: values driven, and motivated by a desire to make a positive difference to the wider world through their work and careers.
Strategic: the ability and drive to bridge complex, granular business situations into smart, clear, and actionable approaches to the future, through research, analysis and imagination.
Curious: an inbuilt drive for continuous learning and growth across many domains, including sustainability topics, industries, clients and new skills.
Collaborative: a ‘we’ not ‘I’ focused team player, who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and clients with diverse backgrounds and personalities, and contributing to shared success.
Flexible: high levels of adaptability, with the capacity to adjust to new situations and challenges swiftly and effectively. Comfortable with conditions of ambiguity and uncertainty.
Resilient: confident to cope with a demanding and sometimes high-pressure working environment, and with an ability to bounce back strongly from inevitable setbacks.
Organised: disciplined, conscientious, reliable and responsive in the face of a sometimes complex and fast-moving workflow.
Ethical: honest, open and trustworthy, with the highest standards of integrity in conduct towards colleagues, clients and collaborators.
Proactive: the drive and confidence to anticipate and raise issues, and take the initiative where necessary, in a ‘high-permission’ team culture.
Communicative: a clear and persuasive communicator, with the ability to distil and convey complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to adapt communication style to difference audiences and settings.
