Job description
Our company is seeking a Commodity Analyst to evaluate the performance of commodities in the financial industry. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of commodity markets and their relation to the global financial market. He or she will be responsible for investigating the factors which directly affect a commodity's value, and for assessing how those same factors may impact other commodities in the same industry.
At Mentee, our mission is to train and empower individuals in the financial industry. We prioritise people above all else, encouraging collaboration and diverse ideas to drive innovation and agility. Our investment in our team's talent, technology, and tools allows them to take ownership of their career paths.
We're currently seeking a Trader to join our small trading team. The primary focus of this role will be managing the pricing and hedging of commodity structured products, as well as associated dynamic volatility/correlation books. We're looking for someone who fits well with our culture and can engage effectively with key stakeholders such as Management, OPS, Risk, and Finance. The ideal candidate is proactive, resilient, and collegiate.
Responsibilities of the Trader role include reporting daily pnl, risk, and market movements to management by email, managing the trading book, liaising closely with support functions such as Finance and Risk on position reporting and analysis, and formulating trading strategies that align with market opportunities. This role requires previous experience in trading volatility products and a good understanding of the technical aspects of an exotics portfolio and relevant volatility markets. Proficiency in trading, a quantitative mindset, and technical expertise in platforms like Metatrader are also essential.
Qualifications for this role include a quantitative degree from a top-tier institution, with further professional qualifications such as a Masters, CFA, or CQF being advantageous. Additional language skills, such as Japanese, would also be a plus.
To succeed in this role, the candidate must have great interpersonal and communication skills, a collegiate attitude, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to perform well under pressure. They should be able to manage large workloads, tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks with urgency.
We're open to flexible working requests that align with our organizational requirements. If you're passionate about empowering others and making a meaningful impact in the financial industry, we invite you to join our team at Mentee.
