Job Introduction

BBC Wales Investigates is looking for a journalist to work on challenging and agenda-setting stories.

Engaging with people from all walks of life, encouraging them to recount their experiences in accurate and accessible ways. You will generate and investigate strong story ideas, interview and research which may lead to an opportunity to produce content or a programme.

The successful candidate will have strong journalistic skills and need to demonstrate a sound knowledge of news and current affairs as well as having strong editorial judgement and a thorough knowledge of producer guidelines.

You'll have a proven track record in programme production. The ability to use a camera and an understanding of the editing system, e.g. Avid, is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Main Responsibilities

You will work with the Editor, Producers and other members of the team, to help produce creative, imaginative and exciting content for programmes that inform and educate our audience.

You will be required to identify clips, prepare two-ways, supply material to News outlets, including TV, radio and digital content. Because of the nature of the stories, you must be highly flexible and ready to work with extremely sensitive material, both legally and editorially.

Are you the right candidate?

You will have the ability to work in a demanding and stimulating environment. A high level of motivation, flexibility and enthusiasm is required, as is initiative, creativity and flair.

As well as experience of working on all types of news and current affairs, you'll need a genuine interest in Welsh issues, and a willingness to embrace new ways of working.
