Position Purpose: To focus on deep-digging investigative reports relevant to the DFW area, told with clear, compelling and creative storytelling.

Primary Responsibilities: Enterprising, creating, researching and writing investigative stories for newscasts, specials, or special events. Following up to continue breaking new developments and owning the story. Develop story ideas and vet tips to identify and prioritize original, timely and topical investigative stories with clear value to the audience. Urgently develop and execute investigative angles to elevate breaking news coverage as well as the day’s big story.
Efficiently maximize newsgathering and investigative tactics to obtain information and story elements, such as developing relationships, cultivating sources, strategically landing interviews, navigating open records laws and data-driven reporting techniques. Must have strong working knowledge of Computer-assisted reporting techniques, database building skills, digital research skills. Work in a highly collaborative spirit throughout story process with management, producers, photographers, other news personnel and attorneys, in creating and airing news stories and maintaining story accuracy. Present well-documented stories in an interesting manner while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and accuracy. Reporting live from appropriate locations as needed for the presentation of investigative and general assignment reports . Anchor newscasts on a project/fill-in basis and as anchor of special content for linear and digital platforms. Drive daily investigative angles, by producing deeper context for day-of and breaking news content across newscasts and platforms. Monitoring tip lines and other sources to develop investigative and consumer-oriented ideas.
Work with web producers and other staff to develop in-depth web presentations and streaming content to accompany on-air investigative reports.
Engage on multiple social media levels to develop, recruit, and deliver stories.

Desired Education & Experience: 5+ years’ experience as an investigative reporter in a medium to large market preferred. 5+ years anchoring experience in a small to medium market preferred Journalism or allied degree preferred. Must be willing to work an often unpredictable and flexible schedule as assigned. Shooting and editing skills helpful.
