Job description
BBC Wales News and Current Affairs is looking for an enthusiastic and versatile journalist to join the multimedia Newsdesk in the Cardiff Newsroom. The role is part of an integrated multi-platform team working on digital stories, radio/TV bulletins, newsgathering and planning, seven days a week. This particular role involves primarily writing and reading radio bulletins but there will also be opportunities to work in other areas of the Newsdesk team over time.
In this role, you’ll be writing and reading radio bulletins that adhere to our editorial guidelines and values and are targeted at a Welsh audience, while covering the major UK and International stories of the day. You’ll need to be able to make sound editorial decisions in a fast-paced environment, while having the technical skills to source and cut relevant audio quickly and accurately. You’ll be expected to contribute content ideas across our services and to contribute to a creative team environment.
You’ll have excellent editorial judgement and the ability to take decisions quickly and competently. You’ll need to be comfortable with live broadcasting and will have the ability to use a range of technology in order to gather material for broadcast. You’ll be open to new challenges and will have an understanding of multi-platform working, particularly digital requirements.
