Site Security Operations Manager

Monday to Friday 40 hours per week (some out of hours work maybe required)

Salary: £35000.00 pa

We are looking for an experienced Manager to be part of a wider team overseeing a Government location in Holyhead. We provide security guarding to site 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The key responsibilities include taking command and control of major/critical incidents at operational or tactical level, management training and development of the team, creation and implementation of operational and emergency procedures, and to act as the key interface between security and other stakeholders on site.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to have real influence within Mitie security operations. The Site Operation Manager position is fixed Monday to Friday. There may be occasions (due to operational requirements) when the operations Manager needs to provide cover during other times of the day or night. This will include performing out of hours visits to site, with the occasional requirement to attend site at weekends. Contractual working hours are 40 hrs per week.

The Candidate

To apply, you must have proven experience of line managing a team, ideally in a busy security, military or police environment with experience of creating and developing new procedures and processes. Previous knowledge of incident management and command and control structures and escalation processes will be beneficial. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to work is essential due to the nature of the role.

Main duties

  • Responsible for the operation and continual development of the security staff.
  • To be the first management point of contact for any security incidents.
  • To manage security incidents at the Operational (Bronze) level.
  • Ensuring that KPI's are met and in line with client expectations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that procedures for the security staff remain current and up to date.
  • Responsible for management of shift patterns, the authorising and planning of staff leave and management of sickness absence.
  • Responsible for undertaking performance development reviews and team meetings.
  • Responsible for recruitment and retention of security staff.
  • Monitoring and analysing all relevant reports and briefing documents.
  • Completion and distribution of management reports to SLT and client.
  • Being proactive and making suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • To ensure appropriate records are maintained of accidents, incidents or near misses and maintain an accurate log of site restrictions/hazard identification.
  • Carrying out other reasonable tasks as directed by the SLT.

  • Essential – Previous knowledge/experience of Incident Management within an operational environment or similar.
  • Essential – Willingness to undertake continuous personal development.
  • Essential - SIA License
  • Desirable – Health and Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely) or experience.
  • Desirable - Proven ability to quickly learn and effectively adhere to new processes and procedures.
  • Desirable - Contributes to a positive team environment.
  • Desirable - Drive, enthusiasm and self-motivation
  • Desirable – Level 3 in Education and Training
  • Desirable -SC Clearance desirable
