BBC News NI is recruiting a journalist to the Digital News team. Journalists in the Digital team deliver articles and videos for the BBC News NI website (www.bbc.co.uk/newsni) and for our social platforms.
The successful candidate will have; a high standard of written English, evidence of writing concise and accurate news stories, a track record of original journalism, a sound knowledge of politics, current affairs and ongoing issues in Northern Ireland, video production skills, a reputation for creative thinking, and a thorough grasp of the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and journalism law.

Main Responsibilities- Writing concise and accurate news stories for the digital team of BBC News NI, demonstrating the ability to exercise strong editorial judgement while under pressure
- Dealing with complex editorial and legal issues
- Contributing on a daily basis to the production of original journalism by the BBC News NI team
- Daily production and editing of video, audio, stills and graphics to enhance our offering for all our digital platforms
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of the editorial benefits and dangers of social media and an ability to interact informally but credibly with the audience on those platforms
- Liaising daily with teams in Radio and Television in order to promote an integrated approach across all platforms.
The ideal candidate will have strong journalistic skills and a passion for news and current affairs.
You will have excellent writing skills and a strong grasp of editorial and legal issues.
You have substantial experience of writing concise and accurate news stories.
You will have a sound knowledge of politics, current affairs and ongoing issues in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and further afield.
You will have a strong track record of original journalism
The candidate will have knowledge of digital production applications and be fluent in the use of video – both filming and editing
