Job Title: Counter Assistant

Pay rate: £10.75


Working hours: This job involves working early mornings, and weekends. Shifts will be scheduled between 9am and 9pm(subject to on a rota basis. Ideally we are looking for someone who can work 30 hours minimum. Experience is desirable, but not essential.

Job purpose:

Food preparation and dealing directly with customers greeting and offering a great customer service, suggesting and upselling our products. The role involves extensive food preparation such as ingredients preps, assembling dishes, helping with deliveries, ensuring enough stock, and keeping all working areas organised and clean..

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Food preparation for customers and for staff;
  • Providing excellent customer service;
  • Serving customers behind the counter in friendly and professional manner, quickly and efficiently;
  • Being attentive to customer needs.
  • Remembering multiple orders;
  • Handling cash and always make sure customer paid fully for their meal;
  • Complete stock taking paperwork on a periodic basis
  • Minimise wastage of the food and products;
  • To check online payment system weekly for updates or queries
  • Being a strong team player and friendly to your colleagues and management;
  • Timely communication on outstanding tasks;
  • Being tidy, clean and hygienic, follow hygiene rules and regulations as per Company’s policies;
  • Other tasks that might be associated with your role.
  • This role requires you to stand for your whole shift (excluding breaks)
  • Lifting, bending, carrying and stretching on a regular basis

Essential skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Passion for working in the kitchen/counter and delivering excellent food quality.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication with colleagues of all levels.
  • An understanding of Food Safety standards.
  • Ability to multitask with a "hands on" approach to work.

Desirable/ beneficial skills:

  • Have minimum 1 year experience in the hospitality sector
  • Have minimum 1 year kitchen/counter.
  • Experience within a Japanese restaurant/ production is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Japanese food and culture
  • Knowledge in Food Hygiene and Health & Safety and ensuring the compliance of safety standards.

A two hour trial shift will be required before employment is considered.
