The Ground Control technology function is on a mission to deliver industry leading technology and data platforms which safely enable everyone at Ground Control to connect our clients and the environment.
Ground Control are hiring an IT Transformation Director to define and deliver our technology transformation roadmap that enables the achievement of the Ground Control Mission and Business Plan within the organisational and financial constraints.
The successful applicant will be supported by the wider technology function in the delivery of the technology transformation roadmap. As a fast growing business the organisation is limited in its experience of transformation and change projects/programmes so the role holder will be expected to play an active role in the definition and management of the technology transformation roadmap.
This role reports to the CIO as part of the IT Leadership Team and collaborates with the entire organisation with the majority of their stakeholders in the Executive Committee or members of the Executive Leadership Team.
This role requires travel to all of Ground Control Locations, including field sites. There is a minimum requirement to attend GCHQ in Billericay at least once per week, with travel to our Leeds office once per quarter and in person collaboration sessions with your own team and wider organisation, as required, but around once per month.
Principal Accountability Areas
- Accountable for the definition, delivery and management of the technology transformation roadmap.
- Accountable for the Product Management function, and its personnel, within the technology team.
- As a member of the IT Leadership Team and the wider Ground Control Exec Leaders they are responsible for creating and nurturing a collaborative working climate and culture.
- Accountable for ~£1M of software operating expenditure and annual project investment of ~£250k.
Skills
- Demonstrable experience of transformation project delivery in an organisation of the same scale and complexity as Ground Control.
- Demonstrable experience of leading/influencing multi divisional working/steering groups which include Executive stakeholders and decision makers.
- Demonstrable experience of effectively communicating a complex transformation or technology roadmap to a range of stakeholders including Executive Leadership, whole IT division and entire corporate audience.
- Experience of operating in high growth, changing environments demonstrating adaptability and resilience in order to lead and succeed.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen; ability to link technology changes and deliverables to definable commercial goals linked to the wider business plan and budget management of an equivalent scale.
- Demonstrable experience of creating an inclusive working climate and culture leveraging a diverse range of skills, abilities and experiences.
