APPOINTMENT OF IT TECHNICIAN (Summer Internship) REF – 2306146
£11.17 per hour

The IT Services Team are responsible for the support, maintenance and installation of all IT Systems and Services including software, hardware, networks and telephony systems. The team consists of four teams; Service Desk, IT Infrastructure, IT Systems and Print Shop. All sub-teams work closely together and ensure that ITIL processes are embedded to embrace best practices with the use of Incident Management, Request Management, Change Management and Service Level Management.
The team also coordinates major IT projects from inception to completion, provides basic user training where required and manages bulk communications regarding systems and services.
IT Services have embraced a flexible approach and pride themselves on providing a friendly excellent level of service. Excellent working relationships have been built with various internal teams including Print Shop, Caretakers, Cleaners, Security and First Aid. A superb rapport has been built and maintained over many years with our customer base.
The IT Infrastructure and Technician team manage the College’s fantastic IT Infrastructure. The team are responsible to respond to incidents and requests logged by Service Desk and prioritise accordingly to meet the business and users’ needs. As well as responding to these incidents and requests, the team work proactively to maintain, enhance and improve the IT Infrastructure and work to ensuring the College’ Infrastructure is secure and patched accordingly to deal with on-going and ever present security threats. The team comprises of the IT Infrastructure Team Leader and three Infrastructure Engineers.
As an IT technician on our Summer Internship programme, you will have exposure to a wide variety of tasks relating to IT Services managed hardware and software. This covers the full IT Asset Lifecycle, utilisation of IT Service Management Tools and Liaison with key third parties. Training will be provided, however, some underlying IT knowledge is essential.
