About the Position
The incumbent shall:
- Install new equipment and maintain existing equipment in working order (computers, printers, monitors, telephones, iPhones).
- Install and set up new workstations. Install necessary software while ensuring compliance with Glencore Canada Corporation standards.
- Provide computer support (troubleshooting services) to users, use the call system to enter customer calls, prioritize, execute work, enter solutions and comments and close the calls.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on IT equipment, check warranties on faulty equipment, send it in for repair or exchange, renew the equipment needed for maintenance.
- Place purchase orders (PCs, network cards, hard drives, etc.), compile and update computer equipment inventory.
- Ensure the smooth operation of systems in the absence of the System Administrator. The IT Technician shall be able to carry out the System Administrator's tasks, or maintain a list of resources that can help ensure that the systems run smoothly.
Specifically, the incumbent shall :
- Support for the main on-site phone system, including administration of systems such as voicemail, PraryeFire, and AWC.
- Provide technical support (not administrative support) for the SharePoint documentation site for GCC-IT users.
- Provide support to French-speaking closed sites.
- Provide support to the Rhode Island site.
- Provide support for CCR pagers.
- Provide support for CCR mobile devices and French-language closed sites.
- Responsible for the Outil Plus application.
- Responsible for the SCCM for the Copper Canada Group.
- Provide technical support for technicians at the Toronto and San Jose sites.
- Responsible for the UPS equipment as the primary contact.
- Responsible and primary contact for the Xerox printers and coordination of cartridge deliveries.
- Responsible and primary contact for recycling with the OPEQ Recycling Centre.
- Train, as a Senior Technician, the Junior Technician(s). Provide Level 2 Helpdesk support.
- Implement security patches or updates on systems under the incumbent’s responsibility. Monitor vulnerabilities on a regular basis and work to find patches to ensure continuity of operations at Copper Group sites.

Skills :
- Minimum 3 years as an IT Technician, Intermediate Systems Analyst or Applications Analyst;
- Excellent communication skills in English and French;
- University or college degree in Computer Science or Information Technology;
- Expertise in communication protocols, system configuration software or system internal software, operating systems experience, communication hardware and configuration;
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships at all levels;
- Strong problem-solving skills, with good judgment interpretation. Ability to apply innovative and creative solutions to improving or restructuring existing application processes and services;
- Proven conceptual skills to interpret and communicate business and technical needs;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral;
- Self-managing, results-oriented, customer-focused and able to function in a team environment.
Languages : Bilingual French and English
