We are growing and looking for someone to join our Brighton based team.
Who are we?
Event Connections provides event registration services to conference and exhibition organisers. We provide high quality solutions using our event technology alongside great customer service.
For a lot of clients, that involves us taking our systems and equipment to events and running the whole arrival process. Our clients demand the very best and so everything needs to work well and the event registration experience has to be perfect!
We write and continually develop all our own systems for checking people in, printing badges, tracking delegate details, dinner seating, accommodation, transport etc. We deliver this on-site through a variety of IT infrastructure solutions that vary according to the event’s needs including:
- Site servers – laptops that sync event data to our main systems.
- PCs & Laptops for registration helpdesks.
- Handheld tablet check-in & smart phone style QR scanners.
- Various networked printers for different types of badges.
- Local network, with internal WiFi.
- Internet WAN connections via venue supplied hard lines / WiFi / 4G.
This role is a combination of the following:
Onsite Event IT Technician:
- Travelling and working at events across the UK and beyond. Whilst we manage staff time carefully, this role involves a lot of travel and time away from home.
- Picking up equipment from our store and transporting to the venue.
- Setting up computers, network, wifi, printers etc at hotels and conference centres.
- Troubleshooting systems and ensuring everything is working as intended for this specific event, usually in a tight timescale.
- Managing and monitoring the system throughout the event (could be hours or days), and supporting staff who have any issues using the system.
- Packing down and returning equipment to the store.
- Assisting with attendee registration and other team roles as required.
Equipment Management
- Helping to manage and maintain our equipment whilst it is not onsite including ensuring kits are 100% correct and ready to go out.
- Ensuring all equipment prepared for a job is operating correctly – installing updates and drivers where needed, configuring new equipment and kit, conduct PAT testing etc.
- Ensuring stock levels and consumables are maintained at a correct level.
Logistics Planning
- Assisting in planning ahead for events, including assessing transportation, timings and liaising with venues to agree access arrangements.
- Liaising with suppliers to arrange stock, equipment purchase and equipment hire when necessary.
Essentials
- General good working knowledge of basic IT systems, small networks and WiFi. Additional training on our systems will be provided.
- Organised, methodical but flexible approach to work. Self-motivated and able to work in fluid and often time-pressured environments as part of team.
- Ability to multitask and be proactive, often planning and delivering multiple events at once.
- Professional and presentable in high end corporate environments, liaising directly with our clients and their delegates onsite, many of whom are often senior company directors or VIPs.
- Flexible working hours, sometimes 9 – 5.30 in the office, and sometimes early mornings / late evenings onsite, with some evenings and weekends away from home. Time off in lieu is given for excess time worked.
- Full UK Driving Licence, and ability to drive vans (usually transit style or smaller). Applicants must be able to comply with our van insurance requirements.
Terms
- Based from our office in Brighton, with frequent travel to events around the UK and occasionally further afield.
- Full-time role – usually 9am-5.30pm but with longer event days (with time off in lieu).
- Flexible hours during quieter periods.
- Base salary of £30k – £35k depending on experience and capabilities, with opportunity to progress and additional payments for extended days away from home.
- We have an annual bonus scheme linked to company performance.
- 25 days’ holiday, 4 of which must be taken over Christmas (at the discretion of the company), plus 8 public holidays.
