Job Description

Our business is a global leader in environmental and advisory solutions. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT Systems Engineer to join our Global IT Team.

You will provide technical support to over 2000 end users, installing and maintaining end-user technology and ensuring seamless technical integrations, including integrating newly acquired businesses.

Ideally you will have experience in network administration, e.g., wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), physical & virtual desktops, and supporting end-user devices such as PCs, Laptops, Tablets, and mobile devices. You can adapt to changing requirements and deliver excellent customer service collaboratively with other specialists within the department and colleagues at all levels throughout the business.

As the business is growing at a significant pace, it will be essential to demonstrate experience worked in a similar role, supporting technologies such as Antivirus, Mobile Device Management (MDM), remote support, applications, automation, remote PC/device builds, software standardisation, and policy management.

About your role:
Within a matrix-managed environment, you will contribute with the following:
  • Supporting a complex technical estate with an existing user base of approximately 2000+ staff in a period of growth through acquisition
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders across the global network, particularly with service and data owners
  • Install and maintain IT systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Assisting in integrating newly acquired businesses into the IT estate, including data migration, system setup, and end-user training.
  • Responding to 1st and 2nd Line service calls through onsite and remote support and escalating to the 3rd Line Team as necessary.
  • Handling incoming technical support incidents, requests, and changes as needed.
  • Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency through process improvement and enhanced use of IT.
  • Supporting end-user and network technologies, adhering to Service Delivery Management and Service Level Agreements.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new technology with existing systems.
  • Ensuring maintenance and patching of existing services to agreed levels.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and resolving them in an organised and efficient manner
  • Provide training, including workshops and technical support to end users for hardware, software, and systems-related issues.
  • Proactively working with vendors, working closely with the IT Heads and & Group IT Director.
  • Participating in vendor and product evaluation and selection for new technologies.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest technology and software developments and providing training and support to end users.
  • Ensuring documentation is up-to-date, accessible, and easy to use, reducing single points of failure within the team and empowering the team to be more efficient.
  • Contributing to smooth project delivery and effective communication with business teams.

As this role will be assisting the team with various project-related activities, this will include travel across the UK and working outside of core office hours.
