Job description

Full time, Permanent

Following a re-alignment of the way in which we deliver Information Services to Wrexham University's students and staff, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for an IT Systems Administrator.

The Information Services Directorate provides Digital Developments & Solutions, IT Infrastructure and Cyber Security, and Service Delivery to provide high quality and sustainable platforms, solutions, learning skills and library facilities that support, enable, and enhance the student and staff experience. This is all achieved by embedding the University’s values of being accessible, supportive, innovative, and ambitious in all that we do.

The Infrastructure and Cyber Security Team are responsible for the provision of all IT Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Enterprise Business Solutions (Collaboration and Productivity tools such as Microsoft M365, Email, Security, Authentication and Sign On solutions) throughout the whole life cycle, including planning, design, procurement, development, build, test, implementation, support and maintenance.

Reporting to the Infrastructure and Cyber Security Manager, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for the daily operation of IT systems across the University and provide responsive and effective 2nd line technical support to staff, students and visitors through a range of customer service channels including phone, email and remote support tools.

You will work closely with colleagues from across the Information Services department to resolve issues and deliver an efficient technical support service to a diverse range of users.

Previous experience of working in a similar technical support role is highly desirable. Since travelling to other sites in North Wales is a requirement of this role, the ability to regularly and sometimes at short notice travel to all Wrexham University Campuses is essential.

If you have well-developed technical, interpersonal and team working skills, and an enthusiastic and positive attitude, with a strong attention to detail, this could be the role for you.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable, however, not essential.

The selection process will include application sifting against a set of criteria and interview.
